Keith Laboucan, Chief

Keith Laboucan, Chief

Chief of Prince George Regional Highway Rescue

Chief Keith Laboucan joined PGRHR (formerly FGHR) in 2004 after being intrigued by the idea of selflessly giving to the community in the form of risking himself to save others. Working his way through the ranks, Keith became Chief of the organization in 2009, the youngest in the history of the department. He also contributes by being the active Training Officer for the department. He has strived to develop and improve rescue techniques and upgrades equipment to bring the department to where it is today.

In 2014, Keith was awarded by Emergency Management BC the Public Safety Lifeline Volunteer Award in the Road Rescue category. Through his years with PGRHR, he has held multiple positions on the board and worked his way through all of the ranks: Captain, Assistant Chief, Training Officer, and finally, Chief.

When away from PGRHR, Keith works in the auto insurance and estimation field. He enjoys spending time being active, travelling, hiking, and spending time in the sun.

“The Highway Rescue Society never looked so good…

…I am impressed; the society has reached a level of professionalism with such a range of vehicles and equipment that we could only have ever dreamed of. When we started the society some 30 years ago we were lucky to have a Porto-power, crow bar and a 10 inch screw driver plus a rickety old rescue vehicle; but somehow we managed to provide this service and perform the job…

Now look at what you have and who you are – Wow..! We are so proud of you folks, way to go…

It is fantastic to see our legacy carries on; we are so very proud of you; keep up the great work. Your desire to serve, your abilities to perform and your courage to act is an inspiration to us…

Dave & Barb Hesse, the founders of the society”
